When you first bring a cat into your home, you probably worry about what name to give it. You probably thought about how cute it is, how easy it is to call, and how it sounds like your pet. But have you ever wondered about the names of other cats? This is especially true if you are thinking of getting a second cat. Onddoka has compiled the 2025 Cat Name Initial Ranking based on the number of custom name charm orders received over the past year. We are introducing not only initials, but also specific names that are popular, so please use this as a reference for naming and spelling.

Top 10 Cat Name Initials

* For orders placed between June 1, 2024 and April 2025

[1st to 3rd place]

・The first place went to a group with the initial " M. " The top of the list was "MUGI." The second most popular were "MOCHA" and "MOMO." In third place were "MARO," "MARU," "MEI," "MELO," "MERCI," "MIMI," "MIRU," "MONAKA," and "MORI." (Second and third places were tied, so they were all in alphabetical order. Same below.)

・In second place is the " K " group. Here, "KINACO" and "KINAKO" are at the top. In second place are "KU" and "KUU". (All of these are spelled differently, but pronounced the same, so they are combined.) In third place are "KAI", "KEMURI", "KIKI", "KOKO", "KOTAROU", "KOUME", and "KUU". Of these, "KOKO" is also in second place in the third place group as "COCO".

・3rd place is the " C " group. The top is "CHIMAKI". Second place is "CHAI", "CHIKUWA", "CHOCO", "COCO", and "COHAKU". Of these, "COHAKU" is also ranked outside the second place group as "KOHAKU".

[4th to 6th place]

・The " S " and " T " groups tied for 4th place. The top "S" group was "SUI". Second place was "SHIMA" and "SUZU". The top "T" group was "TEN". Second place was "TETO" and third place was "TORORO".

・5th place is the " N " group. The top spots are "NANA" and "NICO". Second place is "NERU" and "NOA".

・6th place is the " A " group. Top is "AO". Second is "AME", and third are "AMI", "ARU", "ASARI" and "ASH".

・In 7th place is the " P " group. The top are "PINO" and "PONZU". In second place are "POE", "POMPON", "PONPON" (they are spelled differently but pronounced the same, so they add up) and "PUKU" .

・In 8th place is the " R " group. The top spot is taken by "RAMUNE". In second place are "RAN", "REI", "RIKU", "ROY", "RUI", "RUNA" and "RURU". Of these, "RUNA" is also ranked at the top of 9th place as "LUNA". "RUI" is also ranked outside the 9th place group as "LUI".

9th place is the " L " group. The top spots are "LATTE" and "LUNA".

・10th place is the " H " group. The top spots are "HAKU" and "HANA". In second place are "HIKARI", "HINA", and "HOTARU".
