Onddoka's Cat Friendly Collar
About Onddoka collars
Why do cats need collars?
Every time there is an earthquake or flood, we hear the sad news of cats escaping and never returning. In Japan, where disasters are common, this is not just something that happens to other people. We also often hear stories of cats that are usually kept indoors escaping through a slightly opened window and getting lost.
What if your dog wasn't wearing a collar?
Even if someone were to rescue the cat, it would be difficult to return it to its owner. If it were to end up in a shelter, it could be mistaken for a stray cat and end up being euthanized. In order to protect your beloved cat in case of an emergency, it needs a sign that it is someone's "important family member."
A collar is proof that your cat is yours. Give your cat a unique collar that will let you know it's your cute cat. Onddoka collars are handmade and gentle on your cat's body. Your cat won't mind wearing them, so you can wear them all the time. With a collar, you can rest assured even in an emergency.
Features of Onddoka collar
Cats are very delicate animals. They don't like food and they are very picky about toys. It is said that there are many cats that don't like wearing clothes, let alone collars.
Even if your dog manages to wear a collar, if it is too thick and heavy and does not fit properly, it may develop bald spots around the collar. This will make your dog dislike wearing the collar even more.
For these cats, we plan and produce products from the following three perspectives. Onddoka's concept is "A gentle life for cats." We always aim to create products from a cat's perspective.
1. Cats are stress-free
Cats have thin fur, so if they wear a thick, heavy vinyl or synthetic leather collar, the fur can break and cause bald spots. That's why we focused on making collars that are light and comfortable against the skin. We made them with the hope that they would feel natural even when wearing the collar, as if they were not wearing anything at all.
·lightweight
The decorations are as simple as possible, with each one weighing about 3-6g. That's roughly the weight of a single A4 sheet of copy paper. They're so heavy you'll forget you're wearing them.
・Skin
We use natural cotton and linen fabrics for a gentle feel against the skin.
・Comfort
Craftsmen carefully handcraft each product using the techniques they have acquired from manufacturing women's underwear. They use a small amount of extremely thin adhesive interlining and keep sewing points to a minimum to avoid stiffness that can cause a feeling of pressure.
2. Safety
Since collars are worn on a daily basis, we also take into consideration the safety of the fabric material and buckle.
·material
The outer fabric is mainly made of natural materials that are gentle on cats' bodies. It is less likely to cause allergies and is safe even if your cat puts it in its mouth.
・Safety buckle
We used a Duraflex cat collar buckle . It comes off when a weight (force) of about 4kg is applied, so even if the collar gets caught on something, it comes off quickly and safely.
・In-house inspection and shipping from a dedicated warehouse
Once the product is completed, we carefully inspect each item to make sure there are no foreign objects inside the fabric or any stitching that could cause discomfort. Your item will be shipped directly to you from our dedicated warehouse, where we have a well-established management system.
3. Design
We value not only functionality but also design. We have a wide range of fabrics, from plain to patterned. We also offer the option to add bells or charms.
· material
We use a variety of highly designed fabrics , including cute gingham checks, mature Liberty, and simple yet subtle solid colors . The colors are not too flashy, so they blend in easily with any interior design.
Decoration
The ribbons are small, and the buttons and embroidery used to accentuate the ruffles are kept subtle, with the aim to create a simple, timeless design.
·option
You can also add a bell as an option. We have prepared small bells that won't stress your cat.
Custom Name Charm
You can create a one-of-a-kind name charm (lost dog tag). It can be attached to any type of collar. It is sold in limited quantities from the 1st to the 3rd of each month. (As of December 2024)
[Limited Quantity | Order Event] Order Name Charm (for collars)
The name is hand-carved, letter by letter, onto a small, lightweight brass plate that is made to fit the cat's body. A phone number is also included on the back, so please consider getting one just in case your beloved cat, who is an important member of your family, ever needs one.
How to put on a collar
When putting on a collar, aim for a gap of about 2 to 3 fingers. If it is too tight, it will cause stress, and if it is too loose, it may get caught on something and strangle the neck. Also, the size of the collar will change depending on the weight and body type of your pet, so check it every day.
Onddoka collar types
There are many different types, from simple ones with just the main body to ones with decorations. Please take a look at the product pages.
