In an emergency, it might be when you are away, or even if you are together, only humans may be allowed into evacuation shelters.

We recommend that cats accustomed to going outdoors wear ID at all times, and indoor-only cats wear it at least during vet visits or emergencies, to ensure peace of mind for both humans and their feline family members.
